A thousand years ago, on a globe many light years away, two factions came to fighting. Their society was technologically advanced, and in danger of destroying itself and the planet. One faction desired to last their advanced ways, the other advocated a reappear to a more simple living. There were those, nonetheless, who realized the fallacy of fighting, seeing that it could single hasten the destruction of their globe. They banded together, forming a disengage council, and soon institute that others shared their feelings. Many of them with unusual powers of wits, others with large prowess on the field of action. Those with mental powers were asked to exercise them to enlighten the council concerning the activities of both sides. When armed intervention was needed the others were dispatched. These men at arms were the equal of those either brim had to propose. In spell, owing to the color of the armor they wore, they became known as the Gray Legion. Once the fighting was quelled, it was decided that those who wished to reappear to a less technical mode of living, be relocated to a original globe and allowed to animate in calmness. This was done, but all communication was not severed, and the Gray Legion continued to mark to their protection.
In the early days, nearby the dawn of record, a race of large craftsmen lived in a decidedly land. They were affluent trained in all the arts, but excelled in the art of sword making. The Great Book of the Gray Legion tells of the making of three wondrous swords. They were said to accept mystical powers, but could single be wielded by their rightful guardians. It was believed that the swords had a soul of their own and would not allow themselves to be employed for anything save the good of the land they were to serve. In the middle ages the swords were veiled away, not to reappear to the light of period until original masters came to claim them.
